A person who spiked treats with sedative and gave them to children at a youth camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males both between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and an older person experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody before a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant played a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained materials including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his worries.
She stated Ruben went on to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the police once more.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
